KABUL): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday said an Afghan diplomat in the United States has been fired after he fought with colleagues.
Media reports spread rumours that the Afghan ambassador in the US Mohammad Aklil Hakimi might have been beaten by his advisor, but an official at the Afghan Embassy in Washington rejected the reports as baseless.
Speaking to Pajhwok Afghan News on condition of anonymity, the official said there was no such incident and the ambassador was fine. However, he said a controversy erupted between consular Hassan Sarosh and Haroon Aloko last Tuesday.
“It was a personal issue and Haroon Aloko, the son of Mohammad Ishaq Aoloko, the Attorney General, has been sent back to Kabul”, the official said.
An official at the foreign ministry, also on condition of anonymity, said Haroon Aloko was relieved of his duties by the ministry and recalled to Kabul.
