HERAT: Three people were killed and a fourth wounded during a dispute over the distribution of orchard trees and water in the western Herat province, officials said on Thursday.
The clash erupted on Wednesday night in the Zerkoh area of Shindand district, said a police spokesman for the western zone, Col. Abdul Rauf Ahmadi.
The situation was controlled as a result of police intervention. Several people were detained, the spokesman added.

URUZGAN: Two policemen were killed in a roadside bomb explosion while 13 other security personnel sustained injuries as a result of a gas cylinder blast in Uruzgan and Panjsher provinces, officials said on Thursday.
The explosion happened on Thursday noon at the Saryab Pass on the outskirts of Chora district, the town’s administrative chief told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Naimatullah said the deaths occurred when the policemen’s vehicle, on its way to the district headquarters, struck a roadside bomb. Security personnel have launched an investigation into the incident.
Elsewhere, 13 policemen including a officer were wounded in a gas cylinder blast in the 1st police district of central Panjsher province, the deputy police chief said.
Col. Najim Khan added the incident took place late on Wednesday night, when the cylinder was placed on a stove for heating. The wounded police officer is reported in unstable condition.
