KABUL): Member and former head of Nangarhar provincial council Jamal Qadir was arrested in central Kabul on Monday.
A reliable source told Pajhwok Afghan News, on condition of anonymity, that Qadir was arrested by security forces on the order of the Attorney General Office (AGO).
But another member of the council Zabihullah Muzary, rejected the claim of his arrest, saying Qadir had surrendered to intelligence prosecutors after consultation with friends.
The AGO and the Ministry of Interior had issued an arrest warrant for Qadir on March 4 and also announced a reward of 150,000 afghanis for the person who helps the government to detain him.
Qadir chaired the provincial council for two years, but was not elected for a third term last month. Two months ago, a trader accused him of attacking his factory, beating workers and destroying equipment.
