Afghanistan beat Denmark by 89 runs in T20

KABUL Twenty20 Qualifiers being played in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.

An Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) official, Farid Hotak, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat in the 20 overs game, scoring 172 runs for the loss of five wickets.

Afghan’s Karim Sadiq made an impressive 91 runs, Nawroz Mangal scored 22 runs, Mohammad Nabi collected 15 runs and Gulbodin Naib got 14, he said.

In the match, Denmark failed to reach the 173-target set by the Afghans and were all out with 83 runs, he said.

Karim Sadique got four wickets, Nawsroz Mangal two wickets, Mirwais Ashraf, Zamir Khan and Samiullah Shinwari each took one wicket, he said.

The T-20 World Cup Qualifier would continue until March 24.

Afghanistan, Netherlands, Ireland, Canada, Kenya, Scotland, the USA, Bermuda, Papua New Guinea (PNG), Denmark, Italy, Namibia, Hong Kong, Oman and Nepal are taking part in the tournament.

The winners will join Australia and the West Indies in Group B of the ICC World Twenty20 Cup to be hosted by Sri Lanka in September.

The losing finalist will compete in Group A that includes defending champions England and 2007 winners India.
