GHAZNI CITY (PAN) has created hurdles to the distribution of aid to needy families in southern Ghazni province, an official claimed on Sunday.

Maqur district council head Akbar Khan told Pajhwok Afghan News he had brought relief items, including clothes, crockery and medicine, from the provincial capital Ghazni City, but intelligence wanted their share in the aid.

Over the past week, almost 100 families have been unable to receive the assistance, he said. The NDS workers allegedly stopped the distribution process three days ago, when the deserving individuals were asked to come to the district centre for collecting the items.

“Initially, I failed to understand why the NDS prevented the aid distribution. Now I have realised they want their share,” Khan commented.

Maqur district chief Sahib Khan said he was aware of the problem, but had no information that intelligence operatives were hampering the aid distribution.

Provincial officials of NDS, when contacted, said they were unaware of the problem.
