Mother, sick child killed in car mishap

QALA-I-NAW (PAN): A mother and her two-month-old child were killed after the car they were travelling in spun out of control and overturned in northwestern Badghis province, an official said on Sunday.

The accident occurred when the mother was rushing her baby, who was suffering from pneumonia, to a nearby hospital in the Qarchqi area of Qadis district late on Saturday.

Provincial police chief Col. Mohammad Jabbar Saleh said the family was on its way to Qala-i-Naw, the provincial capital, to seek medical attention for the infant. The driver was injured in the mishap.
