3 killed, 5 held in east: ISAF

BAGRAM (PAN on Friday, the alliance said on Saturday.

The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said three insurgents were killed in response to rocket-propelled grenade and small arms fire in Muqer District of Ghazni province.

A statement from the NATO-led force said Afghanistan National Army (ANA) soldiers, along with police, also wounded one insurgent after a firing incident in the Khogyani district of the province. The detainee was sent to a medical facility for treatment.

During the operation, the troops also detained two suspects with a cache of small arms and ammunition, and they were taken to a nearby base for questioning in the Zurmat district of Paktia province, added the statement.

During a shootout in the Watahpur district of Kunar province, a suspect was detained. He is  being questioned.

Meanwhile, Afghan police and a coalition force detained a suspect after discovering an improvised explosive device command wire, leading into the individual’s house in the Mohmand Dara district of Nangarhar province.
