JALALABAD (PAN artisans was inaugurated on Thursday in Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province.
Showcasing handicrafts of 30 craftswomen, the exhibition was organised by the Afghan Relief Organisation (ARO) office in eastern provinces..
Sifatullah Saqib, an official of ARO, told Pajhwok Afghan News that they were working to facilitate local artisans and the main objective of the exhibition was to find markets for their works.
Afghan women’s dress, hand-made shawls and handicrafts were displayed at the exhibition. Shabana, an artisan, said it was the second time she had presented her works at such an exhibition.
She called the exhibition a fruitful event to explore new markets for women entrepreneurs and urged the government to construct a specific market for their work.
“I am working as a tailor for the last one year to earn a living,” said Muska, another participant who also sought the government’s support for promoting their handicrafts.
