TRINIKOT (PAN): Following residents’ complaint about a shortage of blood for patients at the civil hospital in Tirinkot, the capital of central Uruzgan province, local officials, including the governor, on Saturday donated blood to the hospital.
Governor Amir Mohammad Akhundzada, who along with other officials visited the hospital to donate blood, said he was very happy after donating blood which could be given to people in need.
Akhundzada urged provincial officials to take part in the blood donation drive to help save precious lives.
Public Health Director Khan Aqa Meykhel praised the officials for donating blood, saying the hospital faced a lack of blood and that poor residents could not afford to buy it.
“If people willingly donate blood, the problem of blood shortage will overcome to a large extent,” he said.
Zeba, who brought her child to the hospital, said, “My child who has a rare blood is sick due to deficiency and while the blood bank has no blood.”
Lotfullah, another resident, said when he brought his patient to the hospital, he was told there was no blood in the hospital.
