PUL-I-ALAM (PAN): At least 18 people were injured in twin bomb explosions in Pul-i-Alam, the capital of central Logar province, on Sunday morning, said officials.
Police officer Rais Khan Sadiq told Pajhwok Afghan News after the first explosion, security personnel rushed to the scene to investigate. Minutes later, another blast happened at the same place.
He said nearly 14 people, including Afghan National Army and National Directorate of Security personnel, as well as civilians, were injured. The explosions happened at about 8.40am but details remain sketchy.
A doctor on duty at the provincial hospital, Dr. Ahmadullah Lalahand, confirmed 18 injured people had been evacuated to the hospital. Some are in critical condition.
An eyewitness, Ziaullah, told Pajhwok the blasts took place in a street where the Information and Culture Department and the Afghan Red Crescent offices were located.
He said the heavy explosions damaged nearby buildings and shops, and there could be casualties. No one has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
