JALALABAD (PAN): A border police commander escaped unhurt in a roadside blast that tore through his vehicle in the Qargahi district of eastern Laghman province, officials said on Friday.
Col. Ayub Husainkhel, the 1st border police zone commander, was on his way home from Jalalabad, the capital of neighbouring Nangahar province when came under attack.
Hussainkhel told Pajhwok Afghan News it was a remote-controlled bomb that detonated nhear his vehicle in the Sorkhakan area, injuring a passerby. The injured civilian was taken by border police to hospital.
Deputy police chief Brig. Gen. Abdul Saboor Allahyar said they had launched an investigation into the incident.
