KUNDUZ CITY (PAN): Ten civilians were killed and seven others were wounded when dozens of members of an illegal armed group opened fire on villagers in northern Kunduz province on Sunday morning, the governor said.
The gunmen attacked civilians for retaliation of the death of a colleague who was killed by the Taliban in the Kanmo area on the outskirts of Kunduz City late Saturday, Mohammad Anwar Jagdalak told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said more than 20 illegal gunmen carried out the attack on local people, killing 10 and injuring seven others.
The governor said he had ordered an urgent meeting with security officials to send forces to the area for an investigation and arresting the killers.
More than 30 fighters loyal to two commanders Qadirak and Faizak opened fire on people and shot everyone on the streets, uncle of two injured boys, Mohammad Naeem, said.
“I saw 13 dead bodies lying on a street and the number of dead may have been high”, he added.
