HERAT CITY (PAN): Two people, including a police training academy teacher, were killed in a roadside bombing in western Herat province on Saturday morning, a local official said.
The explosion took place at a police academy in Idraskan district hours before its transition from NATO-led troops to Afghan security personnel, the western zone police spokesman said.
Col. Abdul Rauf Ahmadi told Pajhwok Afghan News two policemen were wounded by the remote-controlled bomb that hit their vehicle at about 8am, when the officials were travelling to the academy from Herat City.
He said one interpreter also died in the bomb attack that he blamed on the Taliban militants. The interior minister and provincial officials are to attend the transition ceremony.
