ISLAMABAD (PAN’s northwestern semi-tribal region of Darra Adamkhel Saturday morning, local media reported.
The bomb attack on Janan market targeted an anti-Taliban committee office, according to a private TV channel. Twenty shops were destroyed as a result of the explosion, DawnNews reported.
The injured were taken to hospitals in Darra Adamkhel — a bustling arms bazaar — and Peshawar for medical treatment, doctors said. Seven bodies and 25 injured people were brought to Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital.
Eight bodies evacuated taken to the Darra Adamkhel Hospital, Medical Superintendent Alif Khan Afridi said. At least five of the injured, including two children, were in critical condition.
Earlier in the day, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain put the toll at seven dead and 19 injured. He said members of the “Aman Lashkar” were the target.
The bomber crashed his explosives-laden car into the committee office, police said, adding that some of the wounded had been transferred to the Kohat Memorial Hospital. Security forces cordoned off the scene.
