KANDAHAR CITY (PAN): The Kandahar police headquarters was shifted to a newly constructed building on the eastern outskirts of the provincial capital, officials said on Thursday.
The old building would house departments such as statistics department and traffic police, the deputy police chief, Col. Rahmatullah Atrafi, told a press conference.
He said operational section of the headquarters had been shifted out of the city due to repeated requests from residents, The measure would help reopen roads soon, he added.
Resident had again and again sought the relocation of the headquarters that often came under suicide attack, inflicting casualties and financial losses on civilians.
About last week’s operations, Col. Atrafi said five Taliban fighters were killed and 20 others detained in different parts of the province.
Ten bullet-proof vests, as many US-made shotguns and coats for the US military, Afghan soldiers, quick reaction force and police were seized from a Nimroz-bound passenger bus.
