The two policemen were arrested in the Kantiwa area on the outskirts of Paroon, the provincial capital, while the third had surrounded by policemen.
Nuristan provincial police chief, Col. Ghulam Khan Nuristani, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Taliban fighters were also trying to capture the policeman.
Governor Tamim Nuristani said he had ordered an investigation into the incident and bringing the culprits to justice. He put the stolen amount at 10 million afs, including salaries of provincial government officials.
