KABUL militants’ attack on Jalalabad airport, currently NATO’s base, was the second biggest attack on the coalition troops.
On Sunday morning a group of heavily armed Taliban group launched a brazen attack, backed by suicide bombers, mortars and small arms.
Nine militants and five airport security guards were killed in the predawn clash, while four security guards and four civilians were also wounded.
ISAF spokesman Brig. Gen. Günter Katz acknowledged that Sunday’s attack was the second largest attack on ISAF forces, where many soldiers were wounded.
The major attack was in Helmand this year in which several helicopters were destroyed and ISAF suffered heavy financial losses.
