HERAT CITY (PAN): A man killed a female relative and her son late Friday in what appears to be the latest incident of honor killing in the western province of Herat, an official said on Saturday.
The unidentified woman and her son were shot point blank by one of her relatives on charge of having immoral relations with people in the Shedaee area on the outskirts of Herat City, the deputy police chief, Maj.Gen.Abdul Hameed Hamidi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Hamidi said police recovered two hand guns in the crime scene, suggesting the use of two separate weapons in the murders.
The murderer along with two cohorts were arrested after the murders, he added.
A local tribal elder speaking on condition of anonymity said the man might have decided to kill the woman after suspecting she worked as a prostitute.
