14 Pakistan troops dead in Waziristan blast

ISLAMABAD (PAN border area on Sunday, intelligence officials said.

The remote-controlled bomb hit a military vehicle on the Miranshah road in Razmak area, the Pakistan Army confirmed. The dead and injured were airlifted to Bannu and Peshawar hospitals.

On Saturday, the Pakistani Taliban said they would not attack the military in the region. The Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief, Hakimullah Mehsud, called for an end to the assaults on Pakistani soldiers in Waziristan.

While urging the insurgents to forge unity in their ranks, he said the ceasefire would be implemented only in Waziristan, a major Taliban and Al Qaeda stronghold.  The militants have been at war with the government over the past few years.

One tribal administration official, who did not want to be named, told Pajhwok Afghan News over the telephone from Miranshah the explosions destroyed two vehicles.

In Khyber tribal region, two rebels were killed in a clash with a tribal peace force in the Akakhel area of Bara sub-district. One volunteer was injured in the fire exchange.
