HERAT CITY/ ZARANJ (PAN): A commission agent of the Herat Customs Office was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in the western province, an official said on Tuesday.
The agent came under armed attack on Monday evening, when he was travelling in his personal car from the Islam Qala dry port to the provincial capital.
Herat Customs Director Khaliqullah told Pajhwok Afghan News the agent was killed and another worker wounded in the attack. Such incidents could negatively affect, he feared.
In another separate incident, two border policemen were wounded when their patrol vehicle struck a roadside bomb in southwestern Nimroz province, said the acting police chief, Col Wali Jan.
The wounded were evacuated to hospital, one in critical condition, he added. Two suspects were detained in connection with the incident and a pistol and remote-controlled devices recovered from them.
