KABUL projects, costing $4 million, were signed between the Ministries of Rehabilitation and Rural Development (MRRD) and 10 firms in Kabul on Wednesday.
As part of the projects, 62 kilometres of roads would be built in Kapisa, Nangarhar, Badakhshan, Samangan and Jawzjan provinces, Minister of Rehabilitation and Rural Development Wais Ahmad Barmak said during at the signing ceremony.
Additionally, a 34-metre bridge would be constructed in Kisham district of Badakhshan, Barmak said, adding the projects benefitting thousands of people would be executed in 18 months.
He said 523 development projects had been executed at a cost of $252 million across the country since March 21, 2012. However, he complained, insecurity had halted uplift schemes in some provinces.
Lawlessness hindered development programmes in Zabul, Badghis, Maidan Wardak and Ghazni provinces, he concluded.
