KABUL Army officials on Monday discussed ways of countering the improvised explosive device (IED) threat.
At a meeting in the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, the delegates conferred on dangers IEDs posed to the civilian population as well as by security forces on both sides of the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.
The participants expressed satisfaction with the progress made on the issue since the IED working group was formed as a sub-committee of the tripartite commission. They agreed on closer cooperation in dealing with the IED threat.
According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Afghan and Pakistani directors-general of military operations led their respective delegates. The ISAF deputy chief of staff headed his team.
