KABUL, Qatar plans to organise an Afghan art exhibition in Doha, a media report said on Sunday.
The Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) in Doha would arrange the event in March to highlight the heritage of Afghanistan, a land known for militant-linked violence and decades of devastating conflict, the Gulf Times reported.
It quoted MIA Director Aisha al-Khater as saying: “We look forward to it as one of our major achievements. She tended to downplay political motives behind the cultural event. “It has nothing to do with the politics or diplomacy…we started planning it almost two years ago.”
Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani and other officials have promised facilitating the Afghan-led reconciliation process by allowing the Taliban to open a liaison office in Doha.
