Blast kills 4, injures 10 in Faryab food outlet

MAIMANA (PAN): Four people were killed and another 10 suffered wounds when a suspected bomb went off at a food outlet in the Khwaja Sabzposh district of northern Faryab province on Tuesday, officials said.

The explosive had been placed beneath a table and exploded at a time when a number of men were taking afternoon meals at the outlet, Faryab police chief Maj. Gen. Naji Jan Mullahkhel told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Two of the injured were said to be in a critical condition, he said, adding the outlet owner and an employee were detained for interrogation.

“The bomb was fitted in a pressure cooker that was placed beneath a table at the restaurant,” the district chief, Abdullah Masoomi, said. A former local jihadi commander, Nadar, was among those injured, he said.

There was no claim of responsibility for the explosion.
