KUNDUZ CITY (PAN): One Afghan national was killed and another was wounded when Tajik border guards opened fire at them trying to cross the border into the neighbouring country from northeastern Badakhshan province, an official said on Friday.

The fatal shooting took place in the Ishkasham district that lies along the international border between Afghanistan and Tajikistan. The border is currently only open for humanitarian deliveries .
Rasikh said Afghan border guards had been handed over the dead body, adding an investigation was underway to confirm if the two were smuggling drugs or illegally entering the country.
