KUNDUZ (PAN): Four people, including a member of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU), were arrested in two separate operations in northern Kunduz province, an official said on Tuesday.
Two of the suspects were detained during an operation in the Gor Tepa area of the provincial capital, police spokesman, Syed Sarwar Hussaini, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Four landmines were been seized in the operations, which also led to the expulsions of militants from some parts of Chahardara district, he said.
Meanwhile, the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said a member of IMU was detained during a joint operation by Afghan and foreign troops in Khanabad district.
Without naming the detainee, a statement from the NATO-led force said he had been involved in insurgent activities in the province.
