KUNDUZ CITY (PAN): Residents of northern Kunduz province on Thursday staged a protest against the killing of four people by foreign troops, an official said on Thursday.
The four men — called rebels by the authorities — were shot dead by International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) soldiers in Khwaja Ghalitan area on the outskirts of Kunduz City on Wednesday night.
Nearly 200 residents took to the streets, claiming the victims were innocent people with no links to Taliban-led troops.
Resident Allauddin said some of the people kept arms in their housed for reasons of personal enmity and self-defence. They would fire at those raiding their houses at night, he argued.
Meanwhile, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the foreign forces had raided a civilian house, killing four people and detaining a fifth.
