11 dead, 24 wounded in Balkh collision

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (PAN, an official said on Friday.

In addition to 11 fatalities, 24 passengers were wounded when a bus rammed into a Russian-made Kamaz truck between the Hairatan Dry Port and Khulm district in Balkh province.

Provincial traffic police chief, Hussain Khan, told Pajhwok Afghan News, the collision happened due to the bus driver’s carelessness. The ill-fated passenger vehicle was on its way to Kabul from Jawzjan province. 

Mazar-i-Sharif Civil Hospital Director Dr. Ghausuddin Anwari confirmed receiving eight bodies and 27 injured people from the accident site. Three of the injured later succumbed to their wounds.

The dead included a woman and two children, he said, adding two females and as many minors were among the injured.
