KABUL): Former Pashtany Bank head Gul Maqsood Sabit has been appointed as deputy minister of finance for revenue and custom affairs, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) announced on Sunday.
A reshuffle of key of top officials, including the deputy minister and heads of some departments, was proposed by the minister and approved by the Presidential Palace.
A statement from the ministry said the move was aimed to boost revenue, utilise staff capacity and meet the commitment the government had held out at the Tokyo Conference.
The changes would affect 34 senior officers, including some customs directors, the statement added, quoting Finance Minister Omar Zakhilwal as identifying anti-corruption efforts and better services as his top priorities.
