KABUL): Iran would help the Kabul University launch a programme of doctorate and masters degrees for Afghan students of journalism in the next five years, an official said on Sunday.
An agreement to the effect was signed between Kabul University Chancellor Habibullah Habib and the dean of the Iranian University’s faculty of journalism, Syed Raza Amir Jahanshahi.
“I am very happy to sign the agreement with a country that shares our language, religion and culture,” Habib remarked at the signing ceremony. He hoped the journalism faculty of Kabul University would be developed with the cooperation of the Iranian journalism faculty.
For his part, Jahanshahi said: “We would like to share our 10 years experience with Afghans, especially in media-related software.”
Wahid Gharwal, the dean of the journalism faculty of Kabul University, called the programme vital assistance. He sought similar programmes for others faculties too. Foreign professors, who would come from Iran, were needed to implement the programme, he concluded.
