KABUL): A would-be suicide bomber was detained by security personnel before he could reach his target in the central province of Maidan Wardak, an official said on Tuesday.
The 20-year-old, Fazal Karim, was detained late on Monday in the Milikhel area of Syedabad district, the governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
A former member of the Afghan Local Police Force (ALP), he was arrested in Hamzakhel area after joining the militants along with a machine gun, he said.
Separately, one insurgent was killed and another wounded by their own explosives when they were making a bomb in Nirkh district, he said.
