KHOST CITY (PAN): An abducted child was rescued in the Qalandar district of southeastern Khost province, an official said on Sunday.
The release came as a result of a special operation, provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Abdul Qayyum, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Niamatullah, a resident Kundi area of Khost City, had been kidnapped by gunmen about two months ago. The captors had asked for a ransom of $100,000, he added.
In a separate incident, a man was arrested with 50 kilograms of hashish on his way from Paktia to Khost, the police chief said.
