HERAT CITY (PAN): Four residents were wounded during a protest against the killing of a child by Afghan forces in the Shindand district of western Herat province on Sunday.
District chief Abdul Ahmad Noor confirmed the incident, saying the insurgents who had managed to infiltrate the rally started firing at security forces. In return fire, four people were injured.
The 12 years old was killed in fire from a vehicle of Afghan forces at 7:30am when their convoy was passing the Azizabad area, tribal elder Haji Gul Ahmad told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Angered by the incident, dozens of residents took to the streets and asked the government to arrest the killer forthwith.
The situation was out of control right and the Herat-Kabul highway had been closed by protestors, Ahmad said.
