LASHKARGAH (PAN): Police raided the house of a woman accused of selling drugs in Lashkargah, the capital of southern Helmand province, arresting 15 people, including two girls, an official said on Tuesday.
The girls were later released by police after interrogations, but held 13 males in custody, the counternarcotics department head, Mohammad Abdali, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The raid was conducted to arrest Zarmina, a drug dealer, but she had already escaped, Abdali said, adding a search was ongoing to arrest her.
One of the girls released, Fawzia, said she visited Zarmina’s house to buy drugs for her father when police raided the house and arrested her.
“My father sent me by force to buy him heroin from Zarmina. I have committed no crime,” she said, adding all her family members were addicted to heroin.
Another girl, Naznin, who is Fawzia’s cousin, said she bought heroin worth 200 afghanis from Zarmina on a daily basis for her family’s male members addicted to drugs.
