KABUL Bank semi-annual meetings popularly known as spring meetings.
The high level joint delegation of the Ministry of Finance (MoF) and Da Afghanistan Bank (central bank) will attend the plenary session of the Development Committee Dialogue (DCD) and International Monetary and Finance Committee (IMFC) to be chaired by the World Bank Group President and the IMF Managing Director respectively, a MoF statement said.
The Development Committee (DC) is a ministerial-level forum of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund for intergovernmental consensus building on development issues. The IMFC is responsible for advising, and reporting to, the IMF Board of Governors as it manages and shapes the international monetary and financial system.
On the sidelines of the meetings, Zakhiwal will be meeting with high level development partners including the leaderships of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), United Kingdom’s Secretary for International Development, the United State Treasury and USAID, the statement said.
“Discussions in these meetings will be to further enhance the development partnership and on assistance from donor countries to Afghanistan. Minister of Finance will also be meeting finance ministers of neighboring Pakistan and Iran on issues of mutual interest,” it added.
The Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group each year bring together ministers of finance, central bankers, and development, private sector executives, and academics to discuss issues of global concern, including the world economic outlook, poverty eradication, economic development, and aid effectiveness.
