JALALABAD (PAN): Nangarhar governor Gul Agha Sherzai has urged President Karzai to appoint an authorised and impartial delegation to investigate allegations of corruption against him, his spokesman said on Saturday.
Earlier in the day, hundreds of people protested against Sherzai accusing him of grabbing government lands and embezzling development funds.
The protestors led by a lawmaker blocked several roads in Jalalabad, the provincial capital, creating great inconvenience for commuters.
The charges were dismissed by Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, Sherzai’s spokesman, who said the governor had called on the President to investigate the allegations through a commission.
