JALALABAD (PAN): Hhundreds of protestors in eastern Nangarhar province on Saturday blocked all entrances to the capital city of Jalalabad to protest what they alleged Governor Gul Agha Sherzai had grabbed government lands and pocketed development funds.

Abdul Zahir Qadir, a member of the Wolesi Jirga and a powerful figure in the east, led the angry protestors who blocked the Torkham-Jalalabad highway at Sorkh Dewal area, the Asadabad-Jalalabad road at the Behsud Bridge, the Kabul-Jalalabad highway at Dusaraka area and another road connecting Jalalabad to southern districts at Hada Farm area.

“The demonstration will continue until Governor Gul Agha Sherzai explains his activities the people of Nangahar,” Qadir told Pajhwok Afghan News at the rally.
