HERAT CITY (PAN): Security forces rescued three NGO workers, including a foreign citizen, from kidnappers in western Herat province on Saturday, an official said.
The Danish Committee for Aid to Afghan Refugees (DACAAR) staffers included a Pakistani doctor, an Afghan engineer and their driver, the governor’s spokesman said.
Mohiuddin Noori told Pajhwok Afghan News unidentified gunmen had kidnapped the aid workers in Kohsan district before shifting them to Gulran town.
As local DACAAR officials refused to speak on the issue, a National Directorate of Security source revealed the men had been abducted by a group led by Mullah Haider.
