LASHKARGAH (PAN): A pro-government tribal elder was killed by an unidentified gunman in Lashkargah, the capital of southern Helmand province, officials said on Thursday.
Governor’s spokesman Omar Zwak told Pajhwok Afghan News the elder came under attack while returning home from a mosque in city.
Wounded in the assault, Haji Ahmad Shah Khan shot dead the attacker with his pistol, Zwak said, adding resident took him to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The elder, hailing from the Margir area of Greshk district, had recently moved to the capital of Helmand.
