KUNDUZ CITY (PAN): Twenty prisoners were released from the central jail of northern Kunduz province in compliance with a presidential decree issued on Mujahidin Victory Day, an official said on Wednesday.
Four children and a woman were among the beneficiaries, prison officer Col. Bahar told Pajhwok Afghan News. The individuals had been detained on charges of robbery, sexual abuse and traffic accidents.
Some of them had served half of their jail terms while others had almost completed their time. Currently, 795 prisoners including 38 women are being held in Kunduz jail, where the prison terms of 139 have been cut from three to six years.
