NEW DELHI (PAN and efforts for security and stability in the war-ravaged country should be Afghan-led.
The talks in New Delhi during Li’s ongoing visit to India were followed by a joint statement saying both sides agreed that the Afghanistan issue concerned regional security and stability.
“As two important countries in the region, we reiterate our support for an Afghan-led, Afghan-owned reconciliation process,” the two leaders said.
They reiterated their commitment to working with regional countries and the international community to help Afghanistan achieve its objective of peace, stability, independence and development at an early date,” said the joint statement.
Premier Li’s visit coincides with President Hamid Karzai’s two-day official trip to New Delhi beginning today.
