Afghan troops among 15 killed in violence

KABUL insurgents, four Afghan army soldiers and a tribal elder have been killed in separate incidents in different parts of the country, officials said on Tuesday.

A notorious Taliban commander, Mullah airstrike on the outskirts of Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital of Logar, deputy police chief Col. Raees Khan Sadiq said.

The seven insurgents were killed in an uninhabited area, a resident of the area, Syed Ajmal, said.

In central Uruzgan province, a local Taliban commander Mullah Wahid was killed along with an accompolice by security forces in the Charchino district on Tuesday morning, police spokesman Faid Aail said.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defence said four Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were killed in roadside bombings and insurgent attacks in different parts of the country.

Without providing exact figures and locations, a ministry statement said several other soldiers were wounded in the incidents.

In western Farah, Taliban insurgents shot dead a tribal elder and blew up a tower of Etisalat telecommunication private company inside his house in the Soor village on the outskirts of Farah City, the governor’s spokesman, Abdul Rahman Zhwandai, said.

The elder, Abdul Wahid, was killed by the gunmen after he resisted to stop them from destroying the tower installed in his house, a resident of the area, Abdul Zahir, said.
