PUL-I-KHUMRI (PAN): Suspected insurgents opened fire at a vehicular convoy taking part in a wedding procession in northern Baghlan province, killing a young girl, and injuring six other guests, officials said on Saturday.
The convoy was proceeding to Pul-i-Khumri, the provincial capital, when came under attack in Shar-i-Naw area of Dohn-i-Ghori district on Friday night, police chief Brig. Gen. Asadullah Sherzad told Pajhwok Afghan News.
A young girl was killed and six others including women spokesman immediately available for comments, the official accused the rebels of carrying out the gun attack against civilians.
He said the insurgents were planting roadside bombs on the road used by the convoy and opened fire as the convoy approached.
A pregnant woman injured in the attack was taken to a hospital in neighbouring Kunduz for being critical, health offical Dr. Khalil Musdiq said.
