Bomb-rigged rickshaw driver killed in Nimroz

ZARANJ (PAN): Police shot dead the driver of a bomb-rigged auto rickshaw after a brief fire exchange in the Dilaram district of southwestern Nimroz province, an official said on Tuesday.

As the man was parking his three-wheeler in the district bazaar, police singled him to stop, the district police chief, Col. Najibullah, said.

But the man on rickshaw opened fire at the police, injuring one policeman. He was killed when the police returned fire, he said, adding the bomb was later defused.

A Kalashnikov was also recovered by the police.
