KABUL.

The demonstrators gathered at 10am in the Shahr-i-Naw Park and marched toward the Iranian embassy in the capital. The protesters chanted “death to Iranian spies within the Afghan government and parliament.”

The participants carried the photographs of 2nd Vice President Karim Khalili, Wolesi Jirga members Mohammad Mohaqiq, Latif Pidram and Ahmad Behzad, as well as Balkh Governor Atta Mohammad.

Before dispersing, the protestors torched the Iranian flag and photos of Iranian officials and their agents.

“The aim of the protest is to highlight Iran’s meddling in political and cultural affairs of Afghanistan through their spies,” one of the demonstrators said.

Israr Ahmad Karimzai warned of continued protests if Tehran did not put a stop to interference in Afghanistan.

The demonstrators also carried the photographs of the Afghans executed in Iran. They said the Afghans were being put to death in Iran but the government in Kabul failed to ask why its citizens were executed.
