HERAT CITY (PAN): Eighty-five weapons were handed over to the Disbandment of Illegal Armed Group (DIAG) in western Herat province, an official said on Thursday.
Lt. Gen. Rahmatullah Safi, the provincial police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News the weapons were seized as a result of operations during the past two months.
He said the arms, including AK-47 assault rifles, heavy machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades (RPG) had been seized by the security forces.
He added during another operation early on Thursday, two drug smugglers were detained along with 20 kilogram of heroin and two kg of hashish in Herat City.
