He met Danish personnel currently serving in Helmand, Kandahar and Kabul provinces. Over the past decade, Denmark has gradually increased its military engagement in Afghanistan.
Included in the 750-member Danish contingent is a mechanised battle group with main battle tanks — part of the British-led Task Force in Helmand province, according to a statement from the NATO-led force.
Danish soldiers and civilian police instructors support capacity building of the Afghan police. Since the beginning of 2012, Danish Special Operations Forces have trained Afghan police units in Helmand. The Danish Mobile Air Control Center is part of ISAF Regional Command–North.
