12 militants killed, IEDs cleared in east

KABUL over the past 24 hours, the US military said on Friday.

Nine militants were killed and four others arrested during joint operations in the Mohammad Agha district of central Logar province, a statement from the Bagram airbase said. The suspects were transferred to a base for questioning.

Another two rebels were killed in the Nirkh district of Maidan Wardak province, where a third fighters was eliminated in the Taliban-infested Syedabad, the US military said,

Eight improvised explosive devices were cleared during operations in Pul-i-Alam. Sra Rawza, Sharan, Zardan and Syedabad, according to the statement.
