JALALABAD (PAN): The private radio station, known as Qalam (pen) went on the air in the Kama district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Saturday.

The FM radio started its 8-hour educational, social and entertainment programmes, the head of the radio station, Sahar Gul Amirzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

“Radio would reflect the current problems of the area people and would find possible solution for them,” he said.

The radio station was established by the revenue department head of eastern Nangarhar province, Ihsanullah Kamawal and its transmissions and would be heard in Nangarhar, Kunar and Laghman provinces, he added.

The revenue department head, Kamawal, the deputy governor, Mohammad Hanif Gardiwal, the deputy head of high peace council, Ataullah Ludin, the director of information and culture in Nangarhar, Awrang Samim, members of parliament, youths, and tribal elders participated in the inauguration ceremony of the radio station.

In addition to the government-run national radio station and TV channel, there are 14 FM radio stations and a private TV channel in Nangarhar.
