KABUL): An under-16 girls’ football tournament began in Kabul on Saturday in connection with international mother’s day, an official said.
Up to 140 girls representing 10 teams are taking part in the event arranged by the Afghanistan National Olympic Committee, a member of the committee, Hajir Abul Fazal, said.
“I am keen to be a football player and want to bring home laurels,” said Farishta, a student of Tajwar Sultana high school. She wished to be selected for the national girls’ football team through the tournament.
